Does anyone known anything about this brand knife??

Post by Nev52 »

This knife was in a box I purchased of old knives to work on. I am going to rehandle and use it as an EDC. The name on the blade looks like A.BBRTUGAT

Thanks for any help on this.

Please don't hold me to this Nev, but your knife looks like a French Pradel knife to me, but I don't recognize the stamp! ::shrug:: 8)

I love the pattern of the pins. Very nice and unusual look.

That 3rd pin was a mistake It was in the scale so I drilled it. ::dang:: Original did not have that pin. But it worked out.

The name is probably BERTUCAT, a French surname. I suggest you try a library that holds French trade directories.

The Bertucats were a family of medieval warriors so an appropriate name to appear on a knife blade. Bertucat d'Albret was a mercenary leader in the 100years war. His son took after him.

Rannard.
