Racked my brain with a wiring issue last night, but I figured it out tonight! Lionel came up with a solution on how to run 2 trains on the same track using 1 transformer, without collision; a 153C Contactor.

I saw a YouTube vid about it so I thought I'd give it a try. Last night I was beginning to think something wasn't right, but it was just my incorrect wiring.

The RR crossing and signal just south of the house where I was raised from the 7th grade till I got out of high school. Mom still loves there. This is the old Sante Fe Moline Sub. The SKOL operates it now. In 1976 the Freedom Train came through headed west. Back then the signal on Main St. Was a wig wag.

The Freedom Train came through Burden, Ks early in the morning of 03-19-76. It was west bound on the Santa Fe Moline Sub. I went in late to work so I could get pics of it. These pics were taken with a cheap Kodiak 110 camera. The pics are old and faded. Thought yawl might like the history.

Very cool, David! Since 2026 will be the 250th Anniversary, I wonder if some of the same things will happen? We can only hope!

Quiet morning at the Landmark Yards. Over the weekend I received a replacement Lionel motor for this engine and turned it into a 2-4-2 Santa Fe Columbia. Thinking I may paint the black parts at some point either gray or a lighter shade of blue. Still need to get the headlight soldered in but I like how it's coming along. The original cheap DC motor wouldn't work for me since I don't have any DC transformers, I think it was originally part of a Pennsylvania Freight set. I bought it with a Pennsylvania rattler tender, which was the main reason for my purchase, and a PRR caboose, all for $25. The new motor was $22 and seems to be working well.

The tender was part of a Cannonball set I believe, it came with a good AC powered motor but the engine shell was missing the boiler plate face. It came with some nice rolling stock including a little red Santa Fe caboose. You can see some of my repair yards parts at the top left in the 3rd picture down.

That is some good stuff there, David, excellent! So cool that you were taking train pics back in the 70s. I was using a 110 back then too, got some pics somewhere of a steam loco making a special run back in '78 I believe.

I had my FA2s on parade last night.

Looking out the east window I can see a EB BNSF manifest and a WB BNSF grain train sitting at the depot changing crews. The EB has some foreign power. A Kansas City Southern with the Southern Belle paint scheme and a faded Ferromex unit. I live such an exciting life.
