A while ago I purchased some deer antler pieces from one of out esteemed members. He threw in a piece of rams horn (which I gave to glennbad for handle material) and a piece of ivory. It was unusual shaped and not suited for knife handles. I then recently forwarded it on to Ivoryman as he does wonderful things with ivory. Yesterday I received back from Iman this wonderful gift. I’ve been bombed today, too!! Returned this evening to find a package from Hawaii in the mailbox. Much to my surprise it was delightful note from Q, accompanied by a beautiful mint Kershaw Double Cross, a knife I’ve wished for years I had bought when they were being made.

Thank you Q! The knife is great - I have wanted one for a long time. But your warm and thoughtful note that accompanied it is really special, and means a lot to me.

I have been the recipient of many of his fine ivory carvings which I will assemble and post a photo of soon so that everyone can see (and marvel at) just how good (and prolific) the I-man is. His work is incredible and each and every one is a totally unique, handmade, one-of-a-kind treasure.

You are correct. This is the only one of his pieces that I have. But oh my! I’m amazed at the skill required to carve these pieces. He has a gift for sure, and I’ll treasure this one.

Hard not to get a big head around you guys and so glad someone besides me appreciates the ivory and the almost lost art of ivory carving these days. Can't thank you all enough for taking time to mention the nice comments. I get enough flack from those who feel it's immoral to use and carve and keep ivory so to me it's even more cool to share it with people who appreciate it instead of condemning it. That is the best part of passing the pieces of tusk around and I truly appreciate all the nice things you guys say about it. So glad to have good folks like you all around to discuss it with.
