I am including a few photos of what I think is a gaucho knife of some kind, or boot knife. And wonder if it is worth anything. It almost appears that the blade is new. I see no marks of sterling on the handle or the metal scabbard, but can not discount if it is.

I would say it is a tourist grade gaucho knife and it is not sterling and you are correct, not very old. Value? Minimal.

I would not dismiss timdog’s knife as a mere inexpensive tourist knife until I could examine it. It does not look old and may not be a museum piece, but many such knives are very well made, ornate, expensive, and highly prized.
