I've had this Lionel Train Watch for over 20 years I believe. I do not wear it, I don't keep the battery in the watch for fear of corrosion over time, however, I just recently put the battery in to make sure that it still runs, it does.
The train is the actual second hand as it continuously travels around the dial.
With a push of a button above the time setter, you'll hear a full spectrum of lifelike sounds such as a whistle blowing, train chugging and even the clanking of a railroad crossing.

Lionel Trains was founded in 1900 in New York City, Joshua Lionel Cowen produced Lionel’s first train model named the Electric Express. It was Cowen himself who suggested department stores to integrate their model trains into Christmas displays, which spurred the well-known correlation between model trains and the popular winter holiday. From the mid-1940s through the 1950s, Lionel became the most successful manufacturer of classic toy trains. Gold was at $1,825.30 per oz. Gold today is $1,968.20 per oz. However, Gold is not sold in "Mini Bricks" like the pictured Silver Bricks below.
And of course you must pay the "Over Spot Premiums" for any Precious Metals. Therefore, if 8 oz. of Gold were purchashed for this train car at current Gold prices, it would cost a bit over $17.000.00 yup, Seventeen Thousand Dollars.

The Rail Car is an actual operational "O" Guage railroad car. It has Die-cast sprung trucks and operating couplers. Metal frame, wheels, axles and brake wheel. The detailed molded body is custom built to carry APMEX 1 oz. .999 Silver Miniature Mint Bricks. The Silver Bricks are also stackable (pictured below) just like we see Gold Bricks stacked at Fort Knox.

Height: 3.25 inches
O Guage
Min Curve: 0-27

As of this posting, there are 52 of the 500 sets remaining. Sold only at APMEX.

Very cool watch and rolling stock, Dan.

We spent the weekend at Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, WV and if it wasn't for the window screen, I would have gotten an awesome shot of 4 Norfolk Southern diesels pulling a double-stack across the trestle from Maryland into West Virginia. Got some better shots of the trestle and previous trestles while hiking on the C&O Canal towpath this morning.

I did manage to hit two model train shops over the weekend too. Loco Joe's is about 15 miles South of Martinsburg and Toy Trains and Collectibles in Manassas is a Lionel lover's dream. The elderly gentleman who owns this place is super nice and went out of his way to find two lightbulbs for me. Loco Joe's had a decent collection but Toy Trains and Collectibles blew my socks off.

Good post, John! You got me researching Shepherdstown and the railroad, there is some good history online. I was surprised to read that the bridge was built in 1904, earlier than I would have guessed. An even earlier bridge was completed in 1880, I guess those are the ruins from it that are shown in your photos.

Thanks, I liked the way the paint scheme looked with the 2 back to back. The sun had all but disappeared so I had to lighten it up a little.
