My knife storage solution.

Conversations on "Knife Storage" is often brought up. I'll add my 2 cents:
In my little 20 X 20 foot cave, the four walls are almost completly covered with my Books, Cutlery, and Military items. I have the "Harbor Freight" tool box and a 6' wide X 3' deep X 3' high, 6 shelf glass display cabinet. So.....my only alternative is to purchase a larger house or the below pictured roll-away carts from Amazon. com.
The larger 10 drawer cart was $57.00, They have numerous colors to choose from. The smaller 8 drawer cart was $39.99. These are plastic drawers, so you will need to line the drawer bottoms with cork or good quality thick material to keep your knives from shifting around when opening the drawers.
My wife is making cloth aprons to close the sides and back for dust control. I do not use "Knife Rolls" I enjoy looking and handling my knives, not wondering "hmm what's in this roll? I currently have three carts, only showing some of my knives within the 8 drawer cart below.

I've been using these Sackups.
They're silicone coated and work great.
They are not cheap though.
I also have a few dislpays.

One of my collections is housed in a half-sized rolling baking sheet rack that holds 20 walnut and cherry 12"x18" display cases. The cases fit perfectly on the shelves that were designed for baking sheets and each case holds 30-40 knives or about 800 knives in total. The beauty is that all 20 display cases are easily accessible and all 20 cases can be rolled-around to wherever I need them. Hope this helps gives somebody some inspiration.

Tom (bestgear), I'm a bit envious of that setup you have there.

I've shown this before. For a bunch of years, I used it as the gun cabinet but I bought a dedicated gun safe and made some modifications to store the knives a little less haphazardly. Works for me. The colored plastic tags attached to the zippers of the folders are marked with what's in the folder. I'm not finished with that project.

All of the wooden cases came from: http://www.s-denterprises.com/Wooden_Di ... er_OH.html and were acquired over time as my collection of folding New Britain Connecticut knives grew. The idea came to me after watching one of the cooking shows that I follow and after a few measurements I knew that it would work. I've had this setup for about the last 10-years with zero regrets.

Flat file storage cabinets of wood or metal make great storage units for knives.

The drawers are shallow, just deep enough for knives.
