I've had a hankering for a bone-handled Barlow, and I think I'll go for an older Case (not the "Vault" reissue from recent years).

Nice! I have a Caterpillar knife made by Utica that's the same idea, just not done as well as Buck. In fact, that was the reason I bought it, like the Buck, but cheaper--around $20 on clearance sales if I recall; back when CAT was changing to Orient makers for their branded knife line.

I agree with you about the etching, redrider. I don't care for most blade etchings but Boker's and Schatt&Morgan strike me as tasteful.
