Cool set up Buddy!1967redrider wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 2:04 pm We had a family birthday party for my neice at the farm last night, I fired up the Polar Express for the kids. The 2055 Hudson 4-6-4 has the smoke feature and I have a whistle train station but haven't had the time to hook it up yet.
Spent the better part of yesterday cleaning and greasing up the turn-outs so they actually work remotely and change automatically instead of causing derailments. CRC contact cleaner and lithium grease did the job.

I love old paint schemes, and they are what help retain our history.1967redrider wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 2:52 pm Anyone else enjoy looking at railroad paint schemes and the evolution of today's railroads? Thanks, gentlemen.
Having a lot of fun with this project. Today I taught my seven year old nephew how to work the layout.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Last night I put the finishing touches on the Erie to WMD Fireball diesel conversion, pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Yesterday was good painting weather, hope to finish painting the B&O and C&O shells tonight after work. Then the Big Three will be on the move again.

John, I am an Erie fan, so when you first verbalized your plans for this loco I just wasn't so sure I liked the idea. However, upon seeing the finished product, I think it looks awesome! Great job!1967redrider wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 12:27 pm Last night I put the finishing touches on the Erie to WMD Fireball diesel conversion, pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Re: Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
Just saw some of the classic Canadian cylindrical grain cars as part of a CN grain train. I rarely see these in my area, but occasionally since CN took over IC. My understanding is that these were originally supplied in the 1970s by the Canadian government. This was called the "Coke can" paint scheme and features a wheat sheaf in addition to the name.
Hey, WillyC.......do you have any input on this, am I correct?

Re: Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
Very cool.
There are still some small towns with active rails running through them. But I bet those old iron horses really pounded the pavement.

Good stuff, David. That loco has been around! Do you ever type in a loco # and look at the pictures that pop up on RR picture archives? It is pretty cool to see where all they have been.
