I think I have 3 of those trick knives and I had fun frustrating the devil out of one
of my grand daughters one day. She finally figured it out on her own.

Re: Trick Knife
This pocket knife was one in a group of nine that I recently purchased. This was the only one that the seller never pictured with the blade(s) open. I couldn't see any obvious signs of rust or any other kind of damage. But, since I wasn't buying the group for this particular pocket knife, I wasn't concerned. When they arrived, I went through each pocket knife to give a general inspection. When I got to this one, I couldn't open it. I then noticed that there was no nail nick at all. Then I figured that maybe this was a "trick" pocket knife. It turned out that I guessed correctly, it's a "trick" pocket knife. I went through the motions and it opened and closed again with no trouble. There is no maker stamp, but there are two patent numbers stamped on the tang. It was more than likely made by Imperial. It is in VERY good condition and needed no cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Re: Trick Knife
These two "trick" pocket knives were in a group of pocket knives that I recently purchased. I did NOT buy the group to obtain these two particular pocket knives. I now have three of these "trick" pocket knives. The other one has been previously posted under this topic or thread. I didn't know that these two were in the group until I received the group and sorted through them. Both pocket knives have a single blade. Both pocket knives measure 3 1/8" closed. There is no maker stamp on either knife, but each knife does have "PAT. NOS." and two patent numbers stamped on the blade tang. The patent numbers are NOT the same on both pocket knives AND they're facing opposite directions. One knife is missing scales. I am 99.999% sure that these two, "trick" pocket knives, were made by Imperial. They are both in good condition, work fine and needed no cleaning. I took some pictures and here they are. The last picture is of a November 29, 1913 newspaper article, that I found in a New York newspaper, "The Newburgh Telegram." It was previously posted, by me, under this topic or thread.

Re: Trick Knife
Interesting little knives. I have had a couple of them, made by Imperial. I "tormented" my grandkids with them
. After the novelty wore off I sent one off in the POS exchange a few years ago, to Philco I think.
Not that it was a POS - I usually try to send along something worthwhile with the poo!

Re: Trick Knife
Hi Folks,
I recived an Imperial Trick Knife from 1967redrider for Christmas this year. Fun to play with & right after I had it figured out, my Son asked me for a knife to open one of his gifts. Of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity to mess with him.
Fun within 5-min.
Thanks John!

Found a couple of these cool trick knives in my Dad’s collection. One a Henckles, one an Imperial. The Henckles is an advertising knife for Cherry Heering, a cherry liqueur.

These two "trick" pocket knives were in a group or lot of pocket knives that I very recently purchased. I did NOT buy the group or lot to obtain these two particular pocket knives. I now have five of these "trick" pocket knives. The other three have been previously posted under this topic or thread. I didn't know that these two were in the group until I received the group and started sorting through them. Both pocket knives have a single blade. Both pocket knives measure 3 1/8" closed. Very recently, this souvenir "Trick Knife" pocket knife, arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, it did turn out to be a keeper. It will be added to my "Trick Knife" pocket knife collection. It does NOT say, but I'm 99.999% sure it is an Imperial, one blade, one tang stamp, 3 1/8" closed, souvenir, "Trick Knife", pocket knife. The tang stamp is two patent numbers. The main handle side says, "ELYRIA ELKS CLAM BAKE - 1950" This "Trick Knife" pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition and "works" the way it should. It did NOT need any cleaning. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.
