PROBABLE BROOKES AND COOKES HORSEMAN"S KNIFE

Post by Rannard »

Probable Brookes & Cookes horseman's knife

This knife has no maker's mark but has the name of the retailer Richardsons, George Street, Edinburgh so almost certainly came from the same manufacturer as that of my last post.

While looking very similar, this one has a bale and a button hook instead of a saw. The other tools are identical.

Sadly it has had some misuse, the main blade broken and the small blade chipped. This steel takes a mirror polish so I suspect is quite brittle.
