to AAPK T.B.! Your knife is commonly referred to as a "Pig Sticker" and was made by various companies like Hubertus, AGA Campolin(I think!), and others I can't recall at the moment! If there are markings or stamps on the knife anywhere post pictures of them as that will certainly help with the identification. Looks in good shape, nice knife!

I think more correctly the pattern is called a d'Estaing knife, after its inventor who was an Admiral in the French navy IIRC.

Pig sticker usually means a double edge fixed blade knife made for killing animals in slaughter houses. Maybe Marco calls D'Estaing knives pig stickers but I have never heard anybody else use that term for these knives. The slang term for these is "folding bowie" but another proper term is "expandable blade knife".

It's entirely possible that I'm incorrect regarding these being referred to as pig stickers, I was positive I'd seen lots of times on various sites them called p/s's. Now I'm wondering what knife I was thinking of? EDIT: I knew I couldn't be THAT wrong! In the AAPK store "mhbknives" he has a couple and in the descriptions he calls them p/s's, so that's one place at least!

I've also heard the term "toad sticker."

It's funny John, I've heard that term in relation to the Rough Rider "Toad-sticker", which BTW have now come out with stag and buckshot covers, not just the old cream colored plastic covers!
