Very cool knife.
Railsplitter wrote: Thu Feb 03, 2022 1:27 am I can't keep quiet about this one. I passed on these when they were released and they sold out the same day. It's been my grail knife ever since. As a relatively new Buck collector, there is no other Buck knife that I want more than this one.

I managed to snag one today and I'm pretty excited about it.

January 2020 Buck of the Month. S35VN Drop Point blade. Nickel Silver frame. Scalloped Cocobolo wood handles. 200 made.

I'll post my own pics when it gets here.

I bud in NY State sent me this picture of knives in an antique shop that he saw recently. I immediately zoomed in on the 10th Mountain Division Ulster, told him it was easily worth $100 depending on condition, he said he would check out the price when visiting again. This past Saturday he texted me he picked up the knife and was mailing it to me. I would love to pick though the other knives in this case just to see what's really there.

Hoping the post office doesn't screw this up. ::pray::
Wow! Super! ::ds:: Congrats John! ::handshake:: ::super_happy::
I can see at least 5 or 6 other great looking knives at good prices too!
I'd love to walk into that place with a little "Mad Money" in my pockets! ::nod:: Kutmasters, Boy Scouts, Case  I'd walk out of there broke & overweight! ::nod:: Of course I walk out of everywhere like that anyways.
I was just thinking about doing a trip around the NY knife maker areas sometime. Bucket list! 😎
Go for it! ::nod:: ::tu:: ::super_happy::

::ds:: I believe to have just picked up my first ever Colonial pocket knife if I am reading the stamp correctly. My eyes aren't the greatest. An American brand I didn't have any of yet. ::tu:: ::super_happy::

Theres a German saying..., "I'm real good at hearing bad & real bad at seeing good."

Anyways, it's a little dog leg Jack knife I guess you'd call it. With some cool advertising for an American trucking company on it. I'm happy about it. ::super_happy:: If you check their address on Google maps it appears as if they still have some trucks on their property. Along with what looks like a school bus, a backhoe and maybe some other old cars & trucks scattered around. ::shrug:: I find that interesting. ::nod:: ::dang::
I wonder how this knife made it's way to Germany. ::hmm:: Was it brought over 30-40-50-60 years ago by a soldier or buisinessman? Did they give it to a German friend or girlfriend? Or did a German tourist visiting the states bring it back over here? ::shrug:: Guess I'll never know. ::hmm::

Can anyone take an educated guess about the tang stamp age? I couldn't find any Colonial tang stamp charts yet. ::shrug::

Edit: I just sent a little eBay mail to the seller asking about the history of the knife. Wonder if I can find out anything about it? Like how it got to Germany or who owned it before me. ::hmm:: ::shrug::
We shall see. ::nod:: ::handshake:: :D

Thanks for looking friends! ::handshake::

Hi Jerry,

First off, let me apologize for posting this in the wrong thread. ::dang:: I should have put this in the "Off Topic" mail thread but I screwed up. Sorry everyone. ::facepalm:: ::handshake::

Wow! That's a nice one! ::super_happy:: I like the large "HOT WHEELS" lettering on the side. ::nod:: ::tu::
I see yours is a "VICTORINOX HOT WHEELS". Very cool! ::nod:: ::super_happy::

I just started collecting these but it seems to me like the 1967 GTO model is the most common. At least it is on German eBay. Followed by a few 1969's. (The Judge) And then just a very few from other years. ::hmm:: Believe I have seen 64, 65 & 68. The prices on these were a bit higher so I haven't picked any of those up yet. I'll wait till I find a good deal on them. ::nod:: :D Till now I have a few 67's & a 69'. And one 67' Chevelle SS. Anyways, it's a fun & inexpensive thing to collect. If I can't afford a real Hot Rod, at least I can look at & enjoy the models of them & they don't cost me any upkeep. ::tu::
And... if I ever have any Grandchildren, they might even get to play with them. ::hmm::

Strap cutters/Rescue hooks go through just about anything quickly, can safely be used to cut things away from livestock (cutting sheep out of baler twine is a key use for me) or people, and rip through clam pack like hot butter.

Gerber and Benchmade both offer some nice US-made ones, but they are usually pricey. They have made most of them for military contracts, and despite $30-40 MSRP, can be had as military surplus for $10-15

I have a number of the Benchmade model, and decided to try the Gerber.

A Case knife came up for sale here on the forum that I have wanted ever since I started collecting so I asked my wife if I could get it for myself as a 50th Birthday present & she gave me a thumbs up. ::tu::
It was the shield really. I wanted to have a Case knife with a Traktor Supply shield in my collection. I find the Barn cool. 8)

Anyways, it's at my Mom's house and it will be a Birthday gift for me in November. It's gonna be a while till I get it but..., Ya gotta plan ahead right?

Thanks again Mark! ::handshake:: Appreciate it! ::super_happy::

Nice! My TSC still has one old stock and last two times I thought about getting it, I bought a less expensive Case model. Think now that the diecast and Breyer horse selection put out for Christmas is gone, I need to give the knives another look.
