Hi; these photos just showed up on a marble collectors site. There is some question about the age of the box. at least one marble guy thinks it is older than the marbles inside. The knife is used/sharpened, and although it fits the slot, it may not be the original. Have any of you seen this set before, or have any thoughts? Thanks

Re: questions about akro knife
According to Goins Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings, the Syracuse Knife Company was a trademark used by Camillus 1975-1976. (also 1935-1940) Does your knife have a "Product of Poland" stamped on the small blade?
The marbles were more than likely mfg by AKRO AGATE CO. and had nothing to do with the knife.
Someone else may come along and add to this.
PS: You may find this interesting regarding the marbles. They very well may be some rare marbles.

And...an old thread pertaining to the knife.

Re: questions about akro knife
The Marbles are known to collectors as snake corkscrews and in mint condition about 10-20 bucks each depending on color. The company (Akro) sold them as Onyx. The knife does not have "made in Poland" on it so is in the 1935-40 era and the same approximate age as the marbles. The question is; since the knife is used, is it original to the box? Could the box be made by Camillus/Syracuse at an earlier date and backfilled with the marbles and knife? Thanks
