He said he would check it out the next time he returned.

This past Saturday he texted, "I picked up that knife, what's your address?" I texted it back and asked what I owed him. He said, don't worry about it.

It arrived today and is in pretty pristine condition. A whopping $18!!! I had one with some scale cracks and patches that Herb fixed for me. What a find. πŸŽ‰

Great 'find' !!! How is that you get your friends to do your knife hunting for you ? You are truly a blessed man to have friends like that. Enjoy the 'find". Now I have to start talking to my 'friends' and get them up to speed.

Dale (ORVET) has taken a mint Camillus Barlow and added Giraffe Bone covers. The knife is satisfyingly snappy, i.e. excellent walk and talk. Stong half stops. It is the varied green colors of the bone that are captivating, deep on one side light on the other. The variation is natural to the single bone that Dale used. I find the affect quite beautiful.

Here's one for you, Marco...cool shield, but the knife might be a bit on the small side for you! (At least it has a dagger-ish blade.) :D
We may have to start a thread dedicated specifically to "Big Knives" (if there's not one already)

The blade shape looks strikingly similar to my Lansky1 Case/Zippo 4107 "Coffin Spike" mod (and here I was thinking I had invented that blade shape...silly me! ).

Thanks ~Q~! I saw that monster on ebay and fortunately for me I'm not a big fan of Navajas, because there are so many styles of them I'd surely be broke, or at least more broke! I don't believe there is a specific forum for BIG knives, although, I have posted all of mine in the "Comfort Knives" thread as have others. It's certainly not a bad idea though, STRICTLY BIG knives or please don't post in this thread? ::shrug:: I sure do like the fact that in this short period of time you know me well enough to remember I like BIG knives, and also that I'm partial to dagger blades, it makes me feel at home. I've absolutely fallen in love with the Coffin Spike blade on the Case knife you posted, I've never seen anything like that on a manual! Just a gorgeous knife! 8)

I just happened upon an estate sale on my way home from the grocery today. I was really surprised to see signs for an estate sale with the recent weather, but I will take what comes my way. To my surprise two Stag Case knives and a Gerstner chest followed me home, all for less than a 'C' note. The dental chest (a model 41) is unusual as the drawers have metal bottoms (sanitary reasons I guess). It is one of the cheaper, if not the cheapest chest, Gerstner made being made for traveling dentists and dental students. I am more excited about the dental chest than the knives. Here are pictures:

Louisville.boy, if you don't mind my saying so I think you made out like a bandit. Two beautiful Cases and apparently a fine chest for a C Note = a great value. Now if only you can have that kind of luck in the lottery.

Thanks John and QS. My luck so far in 2022 has been much better than in the past. First I was notified that I was the winner of the Shepherd Hills drawing for a Case stockman knife, then I stopped by an estate sale and found the two Case knives and chest pictured above. Thanks again guys. ::groove::

Thanks to Ivoryman, I was able to score this Rick Nowland custom Wharncliffe with Mammoth Ivory handle. ::woot::

At only 3-1/8" (closed) it's smaller than I normally prefer, but I just couldn't resist the Wharn/Mammoth combination. As with my other Nowland custom (Wharncliffe/Stag), the workmanship is exquisite. It's tight and snappy with a half-stop, and the run-up between the blade & back spring is about as perfect a fit as I have ever seen---the line where they meet is all but invisible to the naked eye and barely perceptible with a fingernail. For such a tiny little fella, this is truly an exceptional knife. (Unfortunately, this will have to be my last custom knife acquisition until my knife budget somehow manages to dig The Monkey out of the financial hole he dug for himself with all his reckless, out of control, devil-may-care, freefall spending on knives over the past few months! ::facepalm:: )
