Hi
It’s been a while but I couldn’t walk past these two in the local antique centre.
The first one is a bit of a mystery, its clearly a Lockwoods Pampa knife but the blade has me baffled. Its just over 3.75 inches long when close. It’s a long blade 3.25 inches but the end is a strange shape, it’s a bit like a rope knife but too small and light, not unlike a corn knife but the end of the blade isn’t sharpened, it could just be part of a knife and fork set but I don’t know so any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Lockwood pampa help please
Someone suggested it might be quill knife, while I can see where they are coming from I feel it’s a little bit too large but never say never. Looking at the end of the knife under my watch loop I’m pretty sure it’s not been altered. I suspect it’s from late 1880’s with brass liners and lovely worn stag scales and brass rivets.

Great find, two lovely old knives.
Definitely not a quill knife, and likely very close to the original blade shape.
Here is a link to a similar knife posted over on the other forum:

Thanks for the link, I think they are the except for the scales mine has stag and the one on the other forum is jigged bone.
I don’t think it was a quill but you never know, interesting someone the other forum mention a rope knife. I think that’s unlikely as it’s not a strong knife, well made but not enough meat for a rope knife but a similar shape.
I’ll post the knife on the other forum tomorrow.
