3 new ones...........

I tried as long as I could but finally gave in and stopped at a local antique shop.Picked up three more knives.

First is a Schrade LB7.Had the tip of the blade broken off and was pretty grungy looking.A quick trip to my trusty grinder and a few licks on my diamond hone and the blade was good as new.Lost about 3/16ths of an inch in length.Moved to the other side of the grinder and a few passes o the buffer and it was really looking good.Total time involved:about 20 minutes.Price of knife:$5.

Next is a Sharp single blade folder.It was kind of scummy looking but the blade was intact.I always thought Sharp wasn't a particularly high quality brand but this one surprised me.Laminated wood scales,n/s bolsters and liners,no nail mark,and overall nice fit.Also has what appears to be either a serial # or a date code stamped into the side of the blade release.Cleanup and sharpening took about 15 minutes.Cost:$3.

Lastly a yachtman's knife made in Japan in the original box.Looks like it was never used.What is unusual about it is the bail can be used to lock the marlinspike in either full open or 90 degree position.Price:$5.

Ray, I'm gonna nominate you for knife buyer of the year honors!

I'm amazed at what you got for the money you spent. That Sharp looks like a real solid chunk of a knife and your sure can't go wrong with a Schrade. I've picked up a couple of riggers knives myself here lately and the pattern is starting to really interest me.

There's a lot of satisfaction in rejuvinating a diamond in the rough. Great finds.
