Unfortunately, I have been informed by GEC, that I am unable to sell the 2008's for a reduced price. I will however offer with any GEC, whether it's a 2008 or 2009, free USPS 2-3 day priority shipping. Insurance would be optional.

whoa that's wierd, you paid for them did you not? then shouldn't they be yours do do with what you wish?

I agree with Muskrat Man. I don't think I'd want to deal with a company that tried to tell me what to do with their product after I'd done paid for it with my own money. Any way that you sale them, it's still promoting their product. No matter if you sale them for a $1.00 or $9999.00 they are yours to sale at what ever price you choose. Does everyone else that owns a GEC made knife have to get GEC's permission to sale or trade it, at what ever price GEC see fit? There's something wrong with this picture to me. JMHO on it though.

I think it may have to do with the first year (2006) that GEC were out. Some smaller sellers were stuck with more inventory than they could carry. Knives were being sold for less than they had paid for them. If I remember correctly knives were sold to dealers and distributors at the same price - I don't know if this is true any more.

I do remember buying knives for less than the dealer cost on eBay from the smaller sellers. The bigger sellers (who make a living at doing this) complained vigorously and GEC instituted some new rules. 2006 was a free for all. I got many of the rarest GEC knives before most people knew that they were out. BUT, I paid dearly for some of the later rare knives and I was buying for 2. I got a set for my son except for the casein of which only 10 or 11 were made. I got a full set for myself PLUS some 2006 knives that did not have serial numbers - those are very rare. There may only be 20 or 30 of these made but I have 5 different unserialized knives including one in stag. These knives without serial numbers may be the rarest of all for 2006. In fact - I'm sure of it.

Anyhow - I think the minimum price policy got set because of 2006 and the craziness that went on.

It seems to me that not allowing the dealer to cut prices to move inventory would be a very strong incentive for the dealer not to stock much inventory. I can understand GEC wanting to maintain the value of their product, but it looks like they may be doing so at the dealers expense.
My question is this, does GEC retain ownership of the knifes supplied to the dealer, or does the dealer have to pay for his inventory when he takes delivery? If they retain ownership, I can see where that would give them greater control of pricing, and lessen the financial impact the fixed price structure places on the dealer.
