6 Old Knives J Ward Bronxville, Case, Winchester, HB, Utica, VF
J. Ward Bronxville. 3 ¼ Tortoise shell whittler. Equal end bar shield This knife is old. Any guesses how old ? My guess is 1890 Hand forged
WR CASE and SON LITTLE VALLEY NY 3 ½ GOLDSTONE COFFIN JACK
WINCHESTER 3022 3 ¼ TORTOISE WHITTLER equal end, no shield I JUST NOTICED SARGENTS 5TH EDITION , I GOT THIS KNIFE FROM JIM SARGENT AND IT APPEARS IN HIS BOOK. Noticed the handle its easy to match up.
H and B Tortoise Whittler 3 7/16 swell center, bar shield, A beauty. Hand forged knives are so nice
Utica swell center pen, green swirl celluloid, 3 7/16 unsharpened
Valley Forge 4 blade Eureka pen, 3 1/8 green swirl celluloid

DC; That's hard to say. Celluloid tortoise appears very similar to the genuine. Given the age and quality of those knives my first guess would be all of them are real. Just a guess but the unbolstered "shadow" one would be the only one suspect. None appears shrunken or curled. Try a hot pin test or rub them with a silk cloth really hard for twenty seconds. Cellulose can give off an odor of camphor when hotly rubbed. Do you already know the answer? J.O'.

believe it or not, i think all of them are celluliod tortoise. No real tortoise there. I have maybe 100 old tortoise knives and most of them are celluloid. I have a few old english knives that are real tortoise shell. Can anyone put their hands or an american folding knife that is real tortoise ?
