I'm not a big fixed blade collector, but I got this one as a part of an Old Timer Heritage Series.
It's the 169OTH 5 in. D2 Stainless Steel blade with a full tang. 5.25 in. wood handle. It comes
with a custom leather sheath. The knife weighs in at 10.12 ounces. Beautiful knife.

treefarmer. A good Puukko is amazingly handy, especially if your day normally provides you with frequent cutting opportunities particularly outdoors. Like many of these Scandinavian (in this case Finland) knives the sheath is a free hanging "dangler." So it doesn't get in the way when sitting down whether in a chair, or truck seat, etc. The razor sharpness combined with the hand filling handle allow for a very easy application of force when needed. Plus they are inexpensive.

And it looks super too.

This fits my hand perfectly, either with a normal grip, or choked up with my index finger on the choil. Everything about this knife is perfectly designed.

What got my attention about this old easy open was the bone of the handles. It was obvious the bolsters were steel and were dinged and pitted. The price was right in the shallow end of the bay.
Does anyone have an idea concerning who might have been the maker? The steel bolsters and liners would suggest WWII time frame. There is no evidence on either blade of a stamp. The spear is pitted some but the walk and talk of both blades is great. It has half stops and the shackle is not misshapen. This one just need a little bit of attention.

After a bit of cleaning and dressing with a 1500 wet or dry.

Philip, I have one just like it only there is a small chunk of bone missing on the mark side, between the EZ Open notch and the bolster. It's a 4 line.

Had one in the Camillus drawer, it's missing the shackle/bail, the blades are much better and with a clear stamp!

Thank You.. And you are correct.. No bail.. Just the pen blade has a tang stamp of USA.. No tang stamp on master.. It is a real solid knife..

I bought this nearly two weeks ago and it just arrived this morning. Apparently it took one of those famous USPS sight seeing trips. Another sodbuster jr. Witb bone handkes . They call this deep canyon red. A brand new knife with a 2014 tang stamp. I guess it's been sitting on the shelf at Collector Knives for 7 years. No problem I like it.

Beautiful pile of E/O's mates! I love the pattern, makes for a super handy edc.

Yup brother Philip, you are correct.
They are WWII-Korea army/navy contract knives, standard issue. Hence on many, you'll only see the USA tang. Because, as you yourself know, a solider doesn't care about who made their knife, only that it worked well in the field. The TL-29 was the main competition, and the cattle-cigar for the AF.

And two more on this busy Monday. Both of these Puukkos were made by a little shop in Northern Finland called Wood Jewel. Imported by Knives of the North.

This first one has a blade of 3 1/4". The wood is dyed a deep blue as is the sheath.

Next is the Wood Jewel Rainbow Knife with a 3" blade. The handle is made of birch and reindeer antler. Both sheaths come are the dangling type which won't be in your way when seated.

Luv them both the same ("Deep Blue" for it's working qualities, "Jewel" for it's artistry). I do agree, them danglers are a handy sheath on the belt, sitting hunting, & driving. But to be 100% honest with you brother, I like Schrades curved sheaths better, but that's just personal preference.

I understand your sheath preference Willy. The Scandinavian sheaths are not my preference either. They are just a deep pouch covering about 95% of the knife. It certainly protects the knife but does not provide the easiest/quickest withdrawal or insertion.

Yes, very true brother, it's not very solid connection to ones hip, which I consider a must when dealing with big, razor sharp, "swords"
