Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Tom's 2020 Kickstart was in one of these boxes, looks original.

I'm sure you know that Tom's knife is actually a 54 Trapper (not a Kickstart). And, yes, that is the original box it came in (don't ask me how I know, I just do ::paranoid:: ),

So, based on my 2021 Copperhead box (which is the original box with correct ID label), it seems as if Case is still using both the old style boxes as well as the new ones. ::hmm::

Ordered these in April and they were released here in December. I’ve been avoiding buying more Case knives but when I saw these with ebony handles, I just had to have them. Funny, they sent me two sets of these 3 knives. Got an email in to see if it was their mistake or mine. Both sets are engraved with my L number. These are beauties. Didn’t like seeing on the new box that it’s made in the USA with both domestic and imported parts. I’ve seen this before and it’s troubling when a knife companies does this.

Mark, Slick, smooth, beautiful ebony covers. I've often remarked that for a using knife I prefer smooth covers. Exceptions are barnboard and
Winterbottom.

Did it turn out that you can keep the extra set of knives? There could be no doubt you would inform Case. You have something that seems to be diminishing, i.e. ethics.

Thank you Randy, John and Garry.

I don’t know yet Garry, they haven’t responded yet. I don’t think I will have any trouble selling the second set if it turns out that I somehow keep them.

IMHO, If Case should ask you to return the set, which would be a terrible business decision, they should certainly pay return postage. :x

The ebony wood handles are probably the imported parts on these beauties don't you think? ::hmm::

I’m sure the Ebony was imported. But I think this is now printed on all the new boxes.

On another note, I looked closer at the pictures of this trio and saw a pin crack on the copperhead. I wonder if that is why they sent me two sets? I need to email them about this now on top of the question about why I got two sets.

It's the way of the new world, TF. I think we are importing most of our steel now too...
I'm in the guitar business, and the "American made" guitars are full of imported woods and parts. It's been that way for a long time now,
we're just hearing more about it now.
