The UPS guy just brought this to me about an hour ago.
A Moore Maker Trapper with a star inlayed on the marked side and the State of Texas inlay on the other side. I haven't inquired as to who made it for them yet.
Also, with my name and (USN RET) engraved.
It's marked MOORE MAKER, INC. MATADOR, TEXAS

Most cool brother! A knife to remember you by "forever".
From my short research on MM, I do believe they are made in house, @ there small shop in Matador. That's what I'm going by, from them; I have no reason to doubt it.

Willy, If Dave's MM was made directly by MM this would be a big, and new, change. Their knives have always been sourced out, most recently to Bear & Sons. But the manufacturer changes from time to time. Their own shop makes various sorts of ranching tools.

Having said that, it has been a year or more since I last spoke by phone with them and certainly things change and your current info may be better than mine. I have noticed in the past year that their knives seem to be upgraded over the past.

Beautiful Moore Maker, Dale! Some of those weremade by Bear & Son, and I think that they have some made by Case. Whomever made it, that's one to be proud of!

Both very nice knives ~Q~, but the Case with the Wharncliff is simply exceptional! Great score! 8)

I just got off the phone with Roudy at Moore Maker. This knife was made by Bear & Son and he informed me that the majority of their knives are now made by Bear. They still have a some being made by CASE and they still have a limited supply leftover that were made by Queen, Utica and Boker. They only make farm implements at Matador, no knives.

From their webpage:
"Our knives are 100% made in the USA with American made materials. All of our knives are contract manufactured for us by American companies in various states. We own many of the patents and materials and in many cases the jigs and dies as well. We do not build knives in Matador, TX, currently we only build some dehorners and fencing tools in Matador."

Just arrived from Knives of the North, this red-handled Puukko. The 3 1/8" blade is full tang and impressively sharp.

Garry, I'm not into fixed blades but I do believe that one would be a user! Handle looks comfortable and the blade a nice short 3 1/8 inches long, would work for me! ::nod::

treefarmer. A good Puukko is amazingly handy, especially if your day normally provides you with frequent cutting opportunities particularly outdoors. Like many of these Scandinavian (in this case Finland) knives the sheath is a free hanging "dangler." So it doesn't get in the way when sitting down whether in a chair, or truck seat, etc. The razor sharpness combined with the hand filling handle allow for a very easy application of force when needed. Plus they are inexpensive.

That's a beautiful model Garry! I love the color and how well the rings of the grain show, not to mention the solid looking blade! Very nice! 8)
