Smokey Mountain Knife Works KnivesLive TV Show

Post by Clark Doc Savage »

Has anyone heard why this show is going off the air? Not that I care, except for the operators and other employees losing their jobs. I used to buy from Kniveslive and visited the store frequently but stopped doing business with them after a bad experience at the store and owner Kevin Pipes firing Steve Koontz. Just curious.

The end of the show is supposed to be in a few weeks. I did the search but nothing about that just threads on the management shakeup earlier this year and Dolly Parton relative's lawsuit.
I would guess the show is going away because it's not making money. They wouldn't shut it down if it was. As I said other than feeling bad for the people who will lose their jobs, it doesn't matter to me. I was just curious.

I can't seem to find anything on it ether. Maybe give them a call or e-mail I would like to know why. I would say money, that was the reasoning for the firings.

I used to get a kick out of the show (China) but their prices were way out of line (China) and their shipping fees were brutal. When Kabar came out with their anniversary swinguard my wife popped for one. She was mislead to think it was a SMKW exclusive, Her Bad. Needless to say she not only paid $50 more than everybody else the shipping fees were something like $20. The show was funny but a famous EX President scholar once said "We have a saying down here. fool me once shame on you. fool me twice and I won't get fooled again"

Kind of behind the curve on this topic but I was surprised within the last 10 days to find out this knife show is gone. Went to the SMKW website and links to the Tv show are gone. Bad economy to blame? ::shrug::

They said they plan to do this again in the future, hopefully I will find out sooner next time.

It had me reminiscing about the old days- Steve Koontz, Chris (The Hopping Mad Hillbilly) Kirk, the Littlest Knife Shop guy, Tom Odell on Cutlery Corner and others I used to watch 13 or so years ago when I first got into knife collecting. ::mdm::
