Re: Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
My father worked for Union Pacific for 33 years until they bought out his job some years back.
One neat thing during his time there was when the first "Cannonball Run" movie was out and there's a scene where a white guy and black guy are a team driving a pickup and they jump a U.P. flat car. My father got curious and had a friend track down that car. Sure enough, it was right there in the yard where my dad worked in Kansas City.

You guys, John, David, Cudgee, have been posting some really good stuff in the last week or so, I am enjoying it.
I have been giving you all a break from coal trains, which is about all I have been encountering. Here are a couple of Grand Trunk locos moving some local freight.

Cool double-stack photos, David.
Hope you guys aren't getting bored with my 1309 posts, here's one climbing grade en route to the Frostburg Depot during a test run. Not a full manifest, so the diesel isn't in tow for added dynamic braking.

Re: Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
I missed out on an opportunity to get a pic of a UP track evaluation unit a while back, in the right place at the right time for this CN tho. Being an old passenger coach car which was converted to use, it looks a lot like a bus traveling the rails. They added two diesel engines and it can run independently in either direction. The UP unit that I saw was much more modern looking, having been built specifically for rail testing and evaluation.

Really cool, Ike! Reminds me of a diner car with an observation dome in the middle. How clever.
