Thank you Tom. My thinking is that one day, perhaps not far off, no traditional knives will still be made in Germany. At that point, I think my Bulldog and Henckels knives will be especially valuable in revealing what German cutlers could accomplish: practicality certainly but also a good amount of beauty as well.

Recieved this Imperial Pony Jack yesterday. It was pretty gunked up & needed a cleaning & some Ballistol oil but after about 15-20 min. of cleaning it's looking pretty good and has a fair amount of snap left in it. Springs & Wells cleaned up nicely. Blades are still tight & have plenty of life left in them. The price was low and fit into my budget just fine. I am very happy to have found it and will add it to my EDC's starting today. ::nod::
Amazing how a cheap, little, old pocket knife can brighten your day & just make ya feel good. And, it's an American brand, which is always a very special treat for me to find. ::groove::

Interesting stamps & Blade etch. ::hmm::
The blade etch was hard to catch with the camera but it reads "Super Razor Blade Stainless"

Thanks for looking friends! ::handshake::

Hey buddy, you lucked out on that one!

"Super Razor Blade Stainless" is the indicative tell-tell sign of an early Imperial stainless. Circa 50's area of manufacture.
They are a bit rare now-a-days, I've only ever handled 1 example in my entire collecting carrier...

Good job!

This Henckels is hard to find in minty condition. A gentleman's penknife, it is beautifully machined in all stainless steel. On the tang and on the box is the word Friodour, also spelled friodur. This means the knife has received Henckels patented triple ice-hardened blades. This knife would have been made directly by Henckels before contracting with Boker. My photos are inadequate but I find this knife very striking in hand. I will repeat this post in the Henckels forum.

Beautiful little knife Tom! ::tu:: I just love the stripped covers! If you can get pleasure and "feel-good" emotions from your knives why don't you come on over to the "Comfort Knives" thread and post your knives along with a comment about why they make you feel good, you'd be most welcome! Jus' a thought! ::shrug:: 8)

Very cool Garry! ::tu:: You seem to be on a Henckels binge, huh? I have always been a big fan of all-metal knives, there's just something about them that feels so solid. I bet yours looks and feels great in-hand! Nice! 8)

Thanks for your comments as always Marco. Binging perhaps, but in doing so I strive to find the best examples, the highest quality, I can find. And in the most pristine condition possible. I have rejected knives with a single defect, i.e. a bit of blade rub. Some would be unlikely to consider this a defect since it doesn't impact the performance of the knife. It is a minor defect obviously. Yet I am not out to collect knives with avoidable defects. Different collectors will have different goals. A good thing I think.

I feel pretty certain that most of you have seen this Rough Rider Christmas edition Half Hawk. It's bright and cheery and the white stripes almost look like real pearl. It showed up in my mailbox yesterday. I'm quite pleased with it. And the best part? It doesn't have that goofy "R" embossed on the bolsters. ::ds::

Perhaps "binging" wasn't the right word Garry. From what you're saying it sounds more like you're just being quite discerning about what pieces you go after and keep, and Henckels is your current choice to pursue. And as you said, that's "a good thing"! 8)

Marco, Nothing wrong with the word binging. I have been known to binge. But in the arena of binging on knives, I believe you outdo me considerably. So from one binger to another, good luck in your pursuits.

Tom, I have ALWAYS had a soft spot for Imperials. You’ll find that stainless will take a very keen edge without much fuss. Enjoy!

Here’s the latest addition to my fleet of advertising knives, and it’s certainly my flashiest one thus far. The little leather slip is the icing on the cake. Unfortunately I can’t quite make out the name on the tang above Solingen Germany.
