Re: Sheffield Forks
I was thinking maybe oysters, but that is a pure guess for the 3 tine forks. Unique, I never seen forks like that.jonet143 wrote:shellfish?

Re: Sheffield Forks
Those forks appear to be designed so that a right handed user would have the reinforced tine down when cutting food with the fork. Haven't you ever gone into a restraunt and gotten a fork that was bent from someone using it to chop up thier food? Forks like those are much stronger and much less likely to bend when you're choppin off a chunk of chow.
I've seen some of those or at least very similar at an antique shop.
The oyster forks I've had when eating those slimey delights at an oyster bar were much smaller than a regular dinner fork, about half the size on the shovelin end.

Re: Sheffield Forks
My grandmother had forks with the notch out of the thick tine.
She said they were dessert forks.
And that is all I know about it!

Re: Sheffield Forks
How about a spork!
Part spoon and part fork, like those that some fast food places use only white plastic.
Just another dumb guess. I'll ask my wife when she gets home. She used to work as a caterer.
