Howdy from Austin, Texas! Lots of photos

Post by chavez »

It took me a while to find the AAPK forums and glad to have finally found it and registered! A lot of good folks here and some familiar nicknames. On other forums I go by texasflyfisher or also by my last name of Chavez. I have pretty much gotten bitten by the traditional slipjoint bug since over a year ago and sold off or given away every "tactical" knife I own except a RAT Cutlery RC-3 which makes a great camping knife.

I started off with Case then went on to Great Eastern Cutlery, Queen and Schatt & Morgan this year. I am awaiting a S & M scout from Mike Latham who is my preferred dealer for my traditional knife purchases. I think all but one of the following (and the SAK) came from him.

I am not a photographer but I have over time taken on a style of photographing my knives. I like them a little dark and in natural light. I like to get real closeups so that the most minute details come out that normally you wouldn't see.

I look forward to chatting with y'all and learning more about traditionals while I am here. I will try to offer an opinion when I think I can and inject some humor if nothing else.

These are what I consider my weekly rotation. In order of appearance:
  • Case XX 6332 reverse gunstock stockman (1940-1964)
  • Great Eastern Cutlery cigar stockman in burnt stag
  • Queen City Cutlery amber bone worm groove canoe
  • Schatt & Morgan amber bone railsplitter
  • Schatt & Morgan Series XVIII sowbelly (berry brown worn worm groove)
  • Victorinox Blue Alox Farmer
  • Schatt & Morgan scout in Crimson bone

Welcome to the forum, Luciano. This forum is a great one to learn and to teach! Keep up the posting and the pics. Lots of Texans around the forum too. I am sure they will pop up anytime.

Hello and I think you will fit in just fine here.

You said "Occasionally, I may offer an opinion but most likely it will be some smart alec remark."

I do not like reading (EXCEPT here) so make your opinion with a smile... :)

Please type slow cuz I read slow....

The more you speek up the more we all can learn.

Thanks for welcome y'all!

justold52,

I think I screwed up what I meant to say which should have been something like
I will try to offer an opinion when I think I can and sometimes I will inject some humor if nothing else.

Welcome chavez! Some good close ups there!

This knife thing is a bad disease to have; but I can think of worse.
