jerryd6818 wrote: Thu Nov 18, 2021 8:33 pm Showed up today and I am very satisfied. Took a couple of drops of Quick Release to get the snap back but now everything is well. As I said, my dad worked at Builders Supply in Evansville, IN during the 1950's but I seriously doubt it was the same Builders Supply that ordered these knives. I had never seen one before so I had to have it.

Then wound up having to go to the doc last week with a bad cold which had turned into bronchitis. Also wound up getting a Covid test which luckily for me came back negative on covid. Was given some meds and finally got over it by this past Saturday. So this week has been catching up on things for my mom, and around the house. Picked up a few things week before last. Here are a couple of cheapies I found on the net.

First, ordered this 5 inch Barlow by Rough Rider, had to get it just because it's a Barlow, and I loved the brown bone with the design.

Next got this one just because of the Stag handles. A later issue Keen Kutter 3-1/4" Stockman. It has the U.S.A. Keen Kutter 92 tang stamp. I believe these were produced by Bear. Great snap on all blades, and for $20 It will make a interesting EDC.

Glad you're back Smitty, things just aren't the same without you! And your 2 knives, well, the covers on both are simply stunning! And I don't give 2 hoots that one is a Rough Rider, it's a great knife! 8)

Beautiful and elegant little knife Rick! ::tu:: The Spade shield is just special! I've been looking at them on the A.G. Russell website, but they require a US$500. minimum order for them to ship to Canada, and although I could certainly put together such an order they pi**ed me off with that stipulation, so they won't be getting any of my hard collected pension money! LOL! 8)

Mate i have had some terrible issues with A.G. Russell, they should go back to business school and learn Customer Relations, old AG would be turning in his grave if he knew what has happened. The fact that they want a minimum $500 order to ship to you is an utter disgrace. You have given me another reason to never purchase from them again. ::td::

Yah, it really sucks Cudgee. It's not only to Canada that their US$500. minimum applies to, ANY international shipping is subject to this stipulation. Certainly not the way to run a business, but they likely do so much volume that they really don't care. "Instant karma's gonna get you"! LOL! 8)

I travel for work, and managed to be in Jacksonville AL today for Bear and Son and their Once-A-Year Factory sale! No admission, you get an unguided tour of the factory (work areas are roped off, and you can watch people work on knives), and they have bins set up like a knife show!
I really enjoyed it, and I picked up quite a few Second-quality knives to rehandle or repair. Some of their Seconds are only good for parts, but if you look them over you can find hundreds that are easily repairable, in many brands that they contract, including Remington and Moore Maker.
They had several sales on First Quality knives too, and I probably should have picked up a few of those for Christmas gifts. Oh well, maybe next year!

In the left-hand column are:
Two keychain tacticals, a small stockman (1st quality, but old stock), and a yellow Moore Maker stockman.
Center column:
Bear peanut, and Bear stockman, a Moore Maker trapper with Bird Guthook, and an official Boy Scout camper.
Right column:
Various pieces of discount bone and stag, and a Moore Maker Jumbo Trapper in Buffalo horn.

I bought just enough to qualify for a free cap!

I had lots of fun, and I fully plan to do this again next year!

I just got this pretty little figural gentleman's knife. It's branded for the Hoffritz stores in New York, but it is likely made by Calibri in Solingen, Germany. Nice image of a day out automobiling. I'm guessing this is from the 60s or 70s. It was never used. It still has the factory burr on the blades.

Thanks Ivoryman. It was made in China and reassembled in the USA. ::woot:: It's a re-handle. It started out as the bottom knife in the first picture. I had the same thing done to one of my GEC Churchills a few years ago. Each time the shield had to be hand made from scratch and inlaid.

A heap of knives to pick through. Some decent stuff, and lots of junk.
