Questions on Carl Schmidt Sohn?
Hi , thanks for having me. I have a Carl Schmidt Sohn camp/SAK clone that I absolutely love. It has horn scales, brass pins with nickel silver birds eye rivets. The blades are carbon steel with brass liners. I had to tighten up the main blade, fix some chips and file the tang kick to get the blade to drop below the handle. I would like to know when it dates to, but can't find any resources on the brand besides their website and what I have learned from other similar posts here. Any help would be appreciated.

It is not an "SAK clone". German manufacturers have been making a variety of multi-blade Utility knives since the mid ? 1800's.

Nice knife - I saw it recently on eBay, almost bid on it. Can’t tell you anything about it except that I like it.

Houston Price says C.Schmidt & Sohn started in Solingen in 1829 and may still be in business. That's all I found. Neat knife J.O'.

Yeah they are still around and still making cutlery under that name and others, mostly kitchen knives. And thanks, I was very happy to get this knife. I have a large SAK collection and have started checking out some of the older German made copies because they are just built well and have character.Ridgegrass wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 1:59 pm Houston Price says C.Schmidt & Sohn started in Solingen in 1829 and may still be in business.
