new to me Boker Barlow too sturdy small blade

Hi,

I picked up this barlow this weekend. It seems to be in good condition but the smaller blade is a bear to open. It also seems to be made in Argentina which I find odd as I'm no Boker expert, but I thought they were Germany with lesser lines made elsewhere or something?. Any solutions for the small blade being so hard to open would be appreciated but just wanted to share as this was a fun find for me.

A drop of "Quick Release" should help with the pen blade. Boker built a factory in the town of Ezpeleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina (in the 1980's I believe) to serve the South American market. I only have one of the Arbolito knives, but it seems to be pretty good quality. Arbolito might be the name of the street the factory is on. Arbolito means "little tree" in Spanish, it refers to the Boker tree brand logo.

I'd say yours is somewhat rare. I own a few of these which are German made. It's Boker pattern 493. But you don't see very many Boker slipjoints made in Argentina. The Arbolito knives are mainly fixed blades.

Very unusual. My only (a 495 with the "razor" blade) one is USA-made.
