Flea Market find

Post by ButchTN »

Hi all. I am new to this forum and fairly new to knife collecting. I normally only collect German made pocket knives. I have about 27 knives, none of them are extraordinary like some I have seen on here, but I like them pretty well which is what matters. Anyway yesterday I picked up a couple of Case knives at the flea market. One of them is in near mint condition the other needs a whole lotta love. I only wanted the first one thinking that I could use it as trade bait in the future but had to buy them both as a pair. The first one is a Case model # ROG62070, I believe you would call it a sleeveboard style, NKCA 1989 members knife with the # 0515 on the bolster, The second knife is a Case model #6249, from 1977 if I dated it correctly. It has the original red bone scale on the front of the knife (shield side) and it looks to me like the backside scale has been replaced since it is green and has different jigging lol. I paid $60 for both...good deal, about right or too much? Here are some pics.

The original price of the 1989 NKCA knife ( 1 of 6500 ) was $50.00. NKCA has put a value of $80.00 on it, if dead mint. I think you might get $60.00 for that knife if someone wanted it...and it is a cool pattern...so anyway, I'd say you 'bout got the 6249 for free. ::tu::

The NKCA case is called sleeveboard or snowshoe pattern. You can see one here at http://www.collectorknives.net. They have it priced at $89. so you got a smoke'n deal...I bought one just like it less than 2 months ago for my own personal collection.I think its a really neat design...hope this is helpfull !!! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: The older case will be a 1977 if it has 3 dots under USA.and in its current condition I would value it between $20 and $30....I think you did good!!!
