l,f & c bought several cutlery companys including the universal trademark and factory in 1909 for expansion of their pocket knife line.
clarification, the company was founded around 1866, reorganized as landers, frary & clark in 1912-1950.

Frary was making pewter handled knives before he became part of LF&C. They made a lot of boys knives with fancy pewter handles. Some even had a whistle on one end.

L.F. & C. was the main contractor for supplying military field mess cutlery. I have one of their mess knives. Wonder if tip of knife was deliberately pointed so as to supplement as an emergency combat knife if needed?
