Cool looking knife Floyd!

I picked up this little Sharp today at a yard sale for $5.
Nothing special, and has been used a lot, but I like these knives. They are well made.

I also fished this Rough Ryder Elephant Toenail out of the 'Bay. Nothing special there, but I have long wanted an Elephant Toenail knife, and it was inexpensive.
It smells strongly of cigarettes, but a little cleaning should help with that.

Great knife Floyd. I like Jackson too. I'm from the Midwest but I've been to Jackson twice. Last time was in 2000 and I long to go back someday. Those Teton mountains have a mesmerizing effect on me. When I'm there, there's nowhere else I'd rather be.

I received this Single Blade Jack made in Solingen Germany in the mail Friday evening. I purchased it from Scott aka: TripleF. It is 4-3/8" closed with wood handles, not sure of what variety. It has steel liners and appears to be nickle silver bolsters. The blade is roughly 3-1/2" long, no wobble and has Strong Snap. It has a blade etch of "KREISSPARKASSE VIECHTACH' Which roughly translates to Circle or Group Savingsbank in Viechtach a town in Bavaria Germany. So basically it a Promo knife. Kreissparkasse was a group of independant banks in each town in germany until roughly 1972 when The Bavarian Lands Bank under control of Bayerische Bank become part of the Sparkassen-FinanzeGruppe. Today "Kreissparkasse Viechtach" is called "Sparkasse-Regan Vietach. I figure this puts this knife possibly sometime in the 1960's to early 70's. I oiled the blades and put some flitz on them. The handles I cleaned with some murphy's wood oil soap, and then put some paste wax on them. In addition to this knife, Scott threw in a freeby. A Nylon handled camp knife that is also a promo for "Kreisspakasse Vietach" also made in Solingen Germany. It has one spear point blade and 4 tools. Needs a little cleaning inside. It is in a mineral oil soak now. Thanks Scott.

Yes, it has G10 scales.
The knife is far from perfect, but it is very heavy and sturdy. I have only handled one Elephant Toenail before this one, and it is just a pattern that I really enjoyed, so I wanted one. Unfortunately, most of them are a bit above my budget.
If I can ever get consistent time out in the knife shop again, I hope to make one someday. I got this one to coon-finger and study, as much as anything else.

It's a Finlang(I've never heard of them either)handmade 6 3/4" oal slip-joint lockback/SS dagger blade with top swedge, SS bolsters with citrine inlays on both sides, SS liners, dark horn covers with brass inlays, brass pins, and a lanyard hole. I was attracted to this knife because of the dagger blade, which I have seldom seen on this style knife, and it didn't disappoint!

Thanks Smitty! My understanding is that citrine is a gemstone, but like you I've only ever seen it inlayed on the button of expensive William Henry knives. Assuming it is a gem, it can't be terribly valuable because my knife was quite reasonably priced. EDIT: A quick internet search claimed raw citrine sells for $2.-$15./kilo, so it's quite inexpensive, plus, there are plenty of fakes out there, so who really knows.

Thanks buddy! When I drag my thumb across the horn I can feel resistance, like it wants to stop and stick, so I'd have to say it grips well. Is that a method of determining if the material is horn, or...?

ASP Advocate. It is roughly identical in size to a 58mm SAK. Similar toolset to a Rambler, except for the addition of a linerlock (tiny lock!) serrated blade. Made in China, and quality is acceptable, not not as good as a SAK. Fully passable for $21, however. The sole concern I have is the scissors. I had some cheap SMKW knife with identical scissors, and they broke. The spring, while pivoting on the backspring, works against the arm of the scissors.

This was the only model I liked. ASP's main market is security and law enforcement. ALL the models most places aside from ASP themselves sell have cuff keys. There is a model like mine, but has double plain edge blades. There's also a Victorinox Classic SD clone. This was particularly the one I wanted.
