Has knife been apart?

I picked up a very old Robeson Cutlery cigar pattern. When I run my finger across the back springs; on the blade end; the liners and handles ride above the springs. Is this a good indication that the knife has been apart; or just due to ware? Thanks.

I don't think it's necessarily an indication of it having been apart, though it is possible. depending on the blade condition (I.e. do they look used enough to justify?) it could just be wear on the tangs. I've had a few knives run the gambit, from riding high on the springs when close to sunken ones.

If you enlarge this photo; you can see the springs are lower on the blade end. The master dosen't have much snap.

probably blade wear and or spring wear. improper replacement blade fit is also possible. the pivot pin is visible (not always an indicator of dis-assembly) but still looks round.

I say it's worn, divots worn in springs or worn down tanghs can cause the lowered spring and the lack of snap. It does look like someone carefully sanded down the handles and bolsters though to remove some dings or something, could just be the pic though. I think the knife is good and has not been apart.
