Another “across-the-room” fake. “Alligator” jigging, blade shapes are wrong, pulls are wrong, shield has obvious pocket wear scratches etc, but the rest looks new (because it is). Stamps are laughably bad. This is a disgrace to counterfeiters!

Kinda reminds me of the eBay seller who, when I informed him the knife he was selling was fake, responded saying “I showed it to my neighbor who collects knives and he said it is real”.

Then there was the seller who admitted the knife he was selling was a fake (although the listing didn’t say so), but said he offers a 10 day return policy, so if the buyer doesn’t like the fake I sold him they can return it for a refund. “How much more honest can I be?”

Ended by the seller because of "an error in the listing." And $1,500? I'm not sure I'd give 1,500 cents for it. That jigging...

On the plus side, the 6488 Ken showed that is against a red background is super sweet! Could be a very useful pattern, too.

The knife has been re-listed as a 24 hour auction with a starting bid of $31. Looks like identically the same verbiage and pictures as the original listing. My interpretation FWIW is the seller is still willing to sell a fake, just not asking $1500 for it. (Reminds me of the old “What kind of girl do you think I am?” joke with the punchline “we already established that, now we’re just haggling over the price”).

As for the example knives I posted, they’re not my knives. (I wish!). Just some pictures of real 6488s posted here by others.

For some reason (maybe completely absent of justification), I'm suspicious of 24-hour eBay auctions. $31 is certainly a better price, but still too much for me. At half that, I'd think of taking it out of circulation, but that potentially opens up a can of worms.

I wouldn't mind having those real 6488s, either! Maybe one day we will both be that lucky.
