A WWII Murphy Combat.
An A&F Gerber Hunter Restoration in progress by Gerber 1948 2nd year production. These had a flaw that blade broke easily.
A Gerber Joyeuse made by Murphy circa 1939-1941.
A skinner by Frank J Richtig of Clarkson, Nebraska.

Very nice group you got there WB. I especially like that Gerber Shorty.

I think fixed blades are under appreciated and largely under valued among collectors, but I think that's really beginning to change.

These are probably my two oldest fixed blades. The Gerber Flayer on the left is from the early to mid 60s. These had a industrial chromed blade with a cat's tongue finish on the grip to ensure it wouldn't slip when skinning. Mine came with Gerber marked sheath and sharpening steel. The other knife is a Marble Expert I found in the bottom of a tackle box I bought at a garage sale. The handle material was missing, the threaded portion of the tang had been cut off and the tip was broken. I re-profiled the tip, cleaned up the blade and added a new guard and a handle made from cholla cactus. It is dated from the early 40s.

My oldest fixed blade is from the 30s-40s (3rd from the left), the rest are from the 70s.

Mossdancer...You can see my Flayers ancestry in the Gerber Shorty you have, Gerbar stayed with that "modern" design for quite some time. You have a nice and unique collection working there.

Desktop...The Scandies are great, wonderful collection as it is a timeless design. The one's I own are all modern but still look as they did 100 years ago.

cool old knife wb. might be older than 1890. goins says f. ward & co. sheffield - 1856-1883. if after 1890, there should be "england"(if imported to u.s.) on the stamp. further states B4*ANY stamp used from 1860.

Moss the shape of the handle on your knife dates it to 1880s or later....not too much later though based on the looks of the stamp font. Pre WWI IMO.

Here are a few to add.

A Wostenholm hunting knife.




This one marked Lund 57 Cornhill London... the retailer. The knife most likely made in Sheffield late 1800. It has chequered buffalo horn scales.




This knife commerorates the World Rover Scout Moot (i.e., Jamboree) in Ingarö, Sweden 1935.

Here is a pretty nice Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Dagger from a few wars ago. The broad arrow mark is obnoxious to scan so I scanned the pancake flapper off of the sheath which has a bit of documentation on it.

Hi:
Thought I would show another semi rare Marbles. I got this one named "The Maverick" from Orvet. I am showing several photos including the game getter Six shooter that someone had a while back. If anyone has the military style or it's predecessor the Jet Pilots Knife more commonly know as a survival knife in the 50's and early 60's, I would really like a chance at trading or buying outright for my military collection. I will dig out what I have and picture sometime soon. If I don't show up for awhile think nothing of it. It seems I have a growth Inside my jawbone that has to be tended to. It starts tomorrow. Who knows.....

Great looking leather ringed skinner. That would be a great one to show the signature to help ID others. Here is a Handmade from probably 1940's by a local planer operator who worked at one of the local mills. According to the fellows widow, it worked many many animals. With it is I think a mid to late 1800's russell skinner from the green river works. Note the small diamond trademark, it's supposedly indicative of an old one. It came to me after a lifetime in Alaska.

No Mark on the skinner but it was made by Richtig, many of his knives are found unmarked. He used a few different marks but most had FJR Clarkson NEB or a picture of a blacksmith hammering somthing on an anvil.

Here is the Boye Basic # 2 I just got. I have a mint Basic # 3 coming in the mail. He makes a great knife and I always wanted one but he does not make this model anymore. I will take better pictures when I get the # 3. Probably will start a new thread than.
