I picked up this decent Syracuse camper/scout knife at our local gunshow over the weekend for a few bucks. The screwdriver tip was a little beat, and it had paint on the handles, I wonder what someone had been using this one for???

Nice one! Looks a lot like the Camillus scout utility knives I have.Sounds like a painter may have been using it to open paint cans.I have a tool to do that in my paint kit.OLDE CUTLER wrote: βMon Feb 15, 2021 4:36 pm I picked up this decent Syracuse camper/scout knife at our local gunshow over the weekend for a few bucks. Re: Syracuse Knife Company
This one's stamp is pretty well gone but under a scope it looks like the remnants of SYRACUSE. Good size, just shy of 4". Iron liners.
Anybody recognize it or have one similar? Thanks. J.O'.

These are terrific examples, what a great thread. If anyone's looking to re-home a Camillus midcentury era Syracuse knife, and I mean truly re-home, back to Syracuse NY and to folks born, raised, and living there, please feel free to get in touch. I'm looking to get a few for my brothers as yule gifts, but the pickins are slim!

Re: Syracuse Knife Company
This pocket knife arrived very recently in a group of pocket knives that I bought. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. It is a SYRACUSE KNIFE CO., USA, single blade with cap lifter or bottle opener, a corkscrew, single tang stamp, 2 7/8" closed, "bartender" pocket knife. This is only my second SYRACUSE KNIFE COMPANY pocket knife. The other one was previously posted under this topic or thread. This one is in good condition, but it needed cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

The tang stamp reads "SYRACUSE - KNIFE - CO. - USA" This is my third SYRACUSE KNIFE COMPANY pocket knife. The other two were previously posted under this topic or thread. This one is in GOOD condition, but it did need a little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is. The last picture shows it paired up with my other, identical, SYRACUSE "bartender" pattern or style pocket knife.

Thank you, Floyd.
These groups or lots of pocket knives that I've bought
within the last few months, have definitely produced
many, many hidden gems. I have plenty more to post.

Re: Syracuse Knife Company
I have just rec'd in the mail an Ebay purchase, an equal end jack with a tipped and reshaped main blade. Other than that it is quite nice with flawless yellowish bone scales accented with brown. It has larger than usual pins through the iron bolsters, steel liners and pins. 3 1/2 inches long closed.
The only marking is a tang stamp on main blade, marked E & L over Syracuse, NY. Has look of a 1920s knife.
Anyone heard of this marking before?

Re: Syracuse Knife Company
This pocket knife recently arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. However, it did end up being added to my general pocket knife collection. It is a SYRACUSE, two blades, one tang stamp, 3 3/8" closed, two springs, tipped bolsters, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "SYRACUSE (over) KNIFE (over) COMPANY (over) SYRACUSE, N.Y." This is my fourth SYRACUSE KNIFE COMPANY pocket knife. My other three were previously posted under this topic or thread. The main blade has a good half stop along with a good opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has a good half stop, with a good opening and closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in GOOD condition. I had to clean it up a bit. I took some pictures and here it is.
