WOOF-WOOF
I stopped in at the antique mall I am in. Saw a brass dog head hanging on the wall. So I took a couple of pictures and measurements. Bass wood. The plate is from Walnut Hollow.
Labrador Retriever. I also carved a Dachshund.
Enjoy, Bob

Re: WOOF-WOOF
That's really good
The head was carved and then attached to plate?

Yes it is attached by a screw and I think some double stick carpet tape. The head is a glue up. Band sawed to shape and then carved mostly at our weekly carving club get together. The plate I bought at an art supply store. They also are good for chip carving.
I also did a complete head with real glass eyes. Painted with black acrylic gesso. I need to make a stand for it.

Wonderful job!
I really want to try some relief and chip carving and you are definitely inspiring me to do so. Keep 'em coming. Thanks for posting.

Well...the old saying, the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask. In keeping with that, I gotta ask what is chip carving? By the way..nice work mrwatch. (and all you carvers)

Very nice work. So realistic looking.
I have a big chocolate lab and that carving looks just like ol' "Casey"
I enjoy seeing your art.
