Oh, no! You are not done until you move one my way. And I know which one. Are you the famous guy on the 'other' forum?ObsidianEdge wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 8:51 pm Thanks luckydog. I have one more on the way and then I'm done! (Or so I tell my wife.)

I'm not a famous guy on any forum. My kids liked me for a while, but then they grew up! I can't send you that knife until I'm done baton testing it.

Mike, a fantastic group of vintage Schrades, absolutely top notch.
Picked up a decent Schrade Cut Co equal end in stainless steel this week.

Very nice. The equal end jack is such a good-looking pattern!

Thank you all
. Was happy to add this one to the collection, only the second stainless steel marked knife I've come across. Interestingly enough the first one I found is marked with a single S while the new one has a double S.

Not in John's league, but this Old Crafty is a nice Walden era stockman.

Yes it is! Jeff, do you know the dates that Craftsman "crown" logo was used?

Indeed it is! I have a 9547, and it's one of my favorite knives. My research leads me to believe that particular model was only produced in 1973.

Thanks, Dan, I thought from the length of the swedge that it was early '70s, not before.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
You're welcome. I could be wrong on the exact year, but I've pretty well confirmed that the 9547 was only produced during the last year of four-digit stock numbers.black mamba wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 2:43 pm I thought from the length of the swedge that it was early '70s, not before.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
I was just checking out the tang stamp chart identifier to see when a stamp on an old Schrade was used. The stamp is as follows:
Schrade
Walden
N.Y. U.S.A.
STAINLESS
All charts I checked were like this:
Schrade
Walden
STAINLESS
N.Y.U.S.A
I don't want to be one of those guys who gets hung up on insignificant details but in every stamp chart I looked up, the word STAINLESS is ABOVE the N.Y.U.S.A. But the word STAINLESS on this knife is definitely below the N.Y.U.S.A. So I can't figure out how the stamp chart guys all got it wrong, or is this a fake old Schrade that has been made up and poorly copies the real tang stamp? Makes no sense to me and was wondering if any of the Schrade scholars around here have seen such a stamp or know why it doesn't match the chart. Thanks for any advice any may have. Always appreciate the help.

That's one I never noticed. There are stamp variations that are not on the chart and there are also a few errors. It was put together 20 years ago and as new info surfaces sometimes it conflicts with what we "knew". Also it only covers pocket knives, not fixed blades.

Thanks for the comment, maybe it's just a chart error. But this is definitely a folder, 825, and I figured the chart being that old would have definitely seen this stamp before, but maybe not. I couldn't find one identical to it, just the ones with STAINLESS above the N.Y.U.S.A. Just seemed weird that it would be reversed to me. I have never looked up a Schrade knife before that had a stamp different from those in the charts. Thanks again.
