Now y'all have me thinking that acquiring a 3OT needs to be placed a few spots higher on the priority list...

Here's what came up when I did a google search. Don't know if that's what we're looking for.

Re: My latest Schrade
That's it (almost) exactly!
Mine is advertising a different company (I think Knox Woolen and Carter Traveller account for most of the logos you will find on this pattern); a manufacturer of spinning mill equipment; Carter Traveller out of NC. I got it as one of the good knives in this year's POS exchange. It sees a lot of use. I like the Victorinox Alox model "Secretary"; but the Schrade seems built much sturdier.

Re: My latest Schrade
I received this one today through the mail. A Very nice Schrade Walden 293, that I purchased from Ripster. Blades and handles are in great shape. Blades have the factory finish with no wobble and great snap. It also came with the plastic view box with the insert.

That is a dandy, and it has one of my favorite versions of Delrin, too!

Re: My latest Schrade
The Schrade 3OT, is one of my all time favourites, I would say in my Top 10.
Back in 2002-03 Schrade sold a 3" knife, called the 53OTG.
After the Factory Close Down, some sold on eBay. Ken.
Schrade also made the Walden 293, for Primble Hardware.

That is an interesting one. I never owned a #3 but I do like the #5s. One great attribute of all the Schrade lockbacks is that none of them have Swinden pin construction.

I love that Red Bone knife.
The Old Timer "Red Bone Set", is my number one pick of the Old Timers... Ken.

Re: My latest Schrade
The 3 is small enough to carry in the change pocket of your jeans but they're more solid than I expected from such a small knife.
The red bones for me are in a three way tie with the original bone Old Timers and the blue rope bones from the very end. This 3OT is a perfect match with the red bone set. The 'extra' one in the pic is actually an Ulster 50.

Re: My latest Schrade
Smitty, that 293 is a real beauty. And y'all have convinced me that I should actively seek out a decently priced 3OT!

Thanks for showing the 752. It is quite a commonly seen Schrade but i did not know it had a pattern number.
Lots of fine Schrades being shown here today.

Re: My latest Schrade
The Bone 8OT is a must have knife for any Schrade collection.
However, the Red Bone sets run in the top 3 as you said.
[they came one at a time in a Brown Box - I think the case may have come with the first knife ordered]
The Blue Rope Cut ACB knives, were also meant to be release, one at a time starting in the first part of 2004.
I have some of the Blue Bone ACB knives. However, only one is finished...Ken
The 2004 Wooden Set is without doubt, my best Set.
The Blue Bone Set is in second place, for a Set. [Most of these knives were also not finished]

Re: My latest Schrade
That's about the finest example of an original 8OT you could hope for. The wood anniversary knives are scarce but they surface once in a while. I have all the knives but I've never seen a set in the display case like that for sale. That's a tough one to find! I managed to chase down 3 out of the 4 ACBs, finished. The last one I need is the folding hunter. There's a pic of a finished one on Larry's site but that's the only one I've ever seen.

Re: My latest Schrade
I have seen many knives back in the months after the Close Down, for sale.
However, I have always been handy-caped - by sellers not shipping out of the USA.
I have a good collection of the Buck 301 knives, Schrade made for Buck from 1966 to about 1967.
Gray Menace, has the only Full Finished Set of the ACB knives I have seen.
The Yellow 8OTY is an other Schrade, to look for.

Re: My latest Schrade
I found this Red Bone knife on eBay, no one wanted it because of a big pin crack.
With a bid of only US$7, it was on its' way to Dale Vincent.
I had been looking for an 8OT in bone, when I found a nice Walden 8OT, on eBay for US$20.
So it went to "Old Mate" Dale, this time I wanted an every day user... Ken.

Dale did a superb job on it, for sure! Also nice that he marked the sheepsfoot blade (making it clear it's been repaired and/or customized).
