Queen Cutlery Help

I was sharpening knives for my parents and my father pulled out his collection of pocket knives to have them sharpened. In them was what I think is a Queens Cutlery #9 stag stockman pocket knife from 1977-198?. I am not sure what year it is as there is no visible date. I am also not sure if this is an authentic Queens Cutlery piece. I am also trying to figure out how one might take this apart to clean it and hopefully restore it to its original state or as close as possible. Any help, information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

illJMK: That stamp may well be 1976. There is a Queen Forum here on AAPK where someone may have a different opinion. Can't tell
from the pics if it's Winterbottom jigged bone or Delrin (a platic composite). Not stag. As for taking it apart, that's a major undertaking unless you're a knife repair expert . There are technical forums here for that too. Cleaning the knife is relatively simple with the right chemicals and tools. Suggest you refer to those threads on this site. Good luck. J.O'.

Ridgegrass is correct, according to the tang stamp chart here on the forum, the knife was made in '76. There is a note on that particular stamp that tells us it was a knife made for the government or a military contract. There appears to be 4 different Queen stamps used in 1976.
The handle material is Delrin, imitation Winterbottom bone.
If you could give us the closed length of the knife we can tell what pattern it is. If it is 4", it is probably a #9 like you stated.

Yes, the closed length of the knife is 4". Thank you for the information. It belonged to my grandfather (maternal) and was given to my father. I really want to clean it up for him and get it back into mint condition or as close as possible. I am pretty handy figuring things out. Thank you so much for the new information. I will have to discuss this with my mother. She remembers my grandfather using this in his tackle box for fishing and that is why it is in the condition it is. My grandfather was in the US Air Force (which is what made me enlist in the Air Force), I am not exactly sure of his enlistment dates. I do know that he was not in the Air Force in 1976.
