robt klaas soup ladle tang stamp date

Post by tnkingfish »

Does anyone know about what year robt klaas used the soup ladle tang stamp I've searched and can't find any info on it.

I seem to recall seeing 1980 or thereabouts somewhere but don't quote me on that since I'm not absolutely positive.

Could the "soup ladles" possibly be golf clubs? My copy of Goins has "ROBERT KLASS SOLINGEN GERMANY c 1980-present Golf Clubs "R.K." is stamped on the back of the tang.

I can't remember seeing this stamp on a Klaas knife. Can you show the rest of the knife and the other blade or blades with the tang stamps?
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

I was excited to see this post; I have a knife with a similar tang stamp, but I've never heard them called "soup ladles". I had no idea who the maker was. I searched and sure enough, found one post where someone posted their knife photos with a similar tang stamp, and said it was Robert Klass. The thread is here, and the post is about halfway down:

viewtopic.php?f=30&t=32377&p=304176&hil ... le#p304176

Now, there are the two initials "R" and "K" at the 9- and 3-o'clock positions. On mine (and, it appears, on the OP's), they are "X"s. Mine has no other tang stamps, or f it did, they are completely worn off (I tried the pencil thing to no avail).

And I suppose these could be the golf clubs Goins mentions.

Is this still Robt. Klass?
