I haven't been contacted by pocket knife scammers yet, but when I get phone calls about my cars warranty I string then along trying to get a warranty on my '85 Ford F150, with 172,000 miles on it. Basically I try to tie up the phone lines and keep 'em talking until they get frustrated and hang up on me. I always have a red flag go up with new non supporting members, after checking the internet for the username and email I found nothing with the username but found multiple scam complaints with the email.
Tying up the phone line is a great strategy. My personal favorite is to use a canned air horn like those used at sports events or on boats. I give them a long blast, and with any luck, have their ears ringing for a week.
