Visited my favorite pawn shop today...made a nice score...

This is the pawn shop where I bought the Fight'n Rooster for Dad for Christmas, today I picked up three (plus a couple mini knives) for me and had the guy set back a couple more I will pick up next trip out there. Last time I was in they had just start sorting though a 350 knife estate.

First the minis...shown with a Silver dollar in the background...

A "made in China" keychain knife and an Opinel #3





Next we have a gunstock Elk Horn from Japan in scrimshawed MOP




Then we have a Bulldog Serpentine marked Cutting Horse in red glitter




Last is Bulldog moose that is marked Lumberjack on the blade




That was it for this trip but as I said he is holding a couple more Fight'n Roosters for me and I may find something else I can resist...lol. He has sorted completely through the 350 knife estate and it makes it easier to look through them.

Like the Bulldogs. The Red Sparkle Cuttin Horse is one of Charlie Dorton's designs and is a First Generation released in 1986. It is a BKC 353 and 300 were made. It is 3-7/8 inches and Bulldog calls it a Serpentine Stockman.

The 4 inch Moose or Texas Jack with the Lumberjack etch has Duckfeather handles and I don't see it listed in any of my books. BUT, since I don't see 1983 on the tang - I will guess it's a 1993, third generation even though that looks like a short pull on the Lumberjack blade. I can't ever recall seeing Duckfeather on a First Generation knife - that started in the Second Generation, IIRC. But Second Generation had a long pull on the Lumberjack. In 1993 some were made with Surgical Inst. stamped on the tang and that's the first year Bulldog used Surgical Instrument Steel.

Nice knives - I like the artwork on the MOP Gunstock.

Actually the Cutting Horse is marked 1985 on the blade. The Moose I think is part of the 25th anniversary collection, I know they did some of those is Duck's Feather and the length of the pull is right for that as well as the tang stamps match those knives. They were made in 2004.

Sadly even tho this was a huge estate (over 350 knives) there were virtually no boxes. I will probably pick up a few more Bulldogs and Fight'n Roosters when I am back over there in a couple of weeks. He is holding the red glitter "heart to match the "club" I already have and i plan to search through for the rest of the suits.

btw...the blade of the Elk Horn is marked "Republic of Texas" and being a native born son of that state, my citizenship granted by Chris Fox.. the Skipper of the Rio Grande and the Keeper of the Wagon Tongue, I felt obliged to buy it if only to keep it out of the hands of some damn yankee!...

Yes, my Cuttin Horse knives say 1985, I used Tony Fosters book from August of 1990 for the Release dates and quantities.

Explains why I did not see the Moose - I didn't look far enough back.

Here are a few of mine - there are a few mistakes I need to fix though. I need to finish this, I get burned out sitting at the computer - really easy and really fast. Need to click on the pictures to see a good view.

I'll do that! I appreciate the offer! But, I have a couple hundred or so of my own to add to it first. I need to finish mine first and I have been on making fixed blade knife/sheaths kick and have just started making a few slip joints. Toothpicks first, then some Barlows.
