oscar barnett tool company "HHH" plier knife

Post by jonet143 »

here is an old plier knife manufactured by the barnett tool co. includes wire cutter, pliers, leather/swedging awl, screwdriver, and the plier handle doubles as a hoof pick. this has an old shapleigh de blade (contract? more likely a replacement) and the earlier patent of J.C. LEWIS PAT. NOV. 20, 1900. is on the plier handle.

Johnny,
Seems like I saw one of those for sale not too long ago, but I believe it had a spear blade instead of a clip blade.
Very cool piece of history either way. ::tu::

hey phil, i have seen most with spear blades. that's how levine's describes them. i have seen a few with clips as well. the barnett tool co.(1845-1915) made them from 1900-1915.

there was one similar listed on e-bay the other day. Just glanced at it so my facts may be wrong ,but I think it was stamped Henry Sears. cool looking knife.

Johnnie Fain, the one who started this thread has been gone now for two years. I found it ironic but somewhat pleasing that one of the threads he started would be running two years after his passing.

Rest in peace Johnnie. :)

Phil & guys,
BIGHEAD won the old Oscar Barnett plier knife of Johnnie's in one of the auctions here in August of 2009.
If you PM him he might post pics of it, or you can see them here (my lousey pics) where it was auctioned:

Here's a picture of the one I have along with some French made plier knives that date to the 1950's and possibly before.
