But, I would submit that the reason you pay 4x the cost of a Made In China RR for a Made In USA Case knife has less to do with the construction of the knife and more to do with the cost of labor in China compared to the cost of labor in the USA.

Speaking of beauty, that Finch has very nice lines, looks like great fit and finish, good looking Wharn, and nice bone. Ox bone huh? Don't see many Ox around either. Never seen a Finch, how's the snap and action and feel? Who makes that? Congrats, great unique score. I'll see what I can find looking up the name. Also like your wood knife stand. I make some out of antler tines, so I like the home made pose supports. Cool one.

Ken98, that's a nice looking RR. Never seen that model and to me didn't even know it was a RR until I zoomed in on the tang. Good looker.

The Finch brand was unknown to me. Looked it up and am very favorably impressed. Did not find what type of steel is used.

Thanks, I-Man. Finch is a U.S. company, and to my knowledge, their knives are made in the USA. The Holliday is one of the smoothest 'flippers' I've ever owned. The quickness of the opening and locking into position is amazing. The feel is just right and is easy to grip with no hot spots. Mechanically, this knife is built with simplicity, yet the form and function is exquisite. As to 'snap'...there is none when closing. The liner lock is unlocked with the thumb and is also smooth as silk. With practice, one can close this knife one handed without fear of the blade snapping down on your fingers. It closes very smoothly.

The wood knife stand is just something I put together out of scrap pieces of wood. Sanded and screwed together. I wanted something a bit more creative and a stand that wouldn't 'fold up' on me like the plastic photo holders do. I've got about six others I made. There is a thread somewhere where I posted pics of them...can't remember what thread.

LJ,
The link I posted a few posts above states that Finch knives are designed in Stilwell, KS and manufactured by QSP.

QSP is a China based company and personally, I would buy a QSP or a Finch knife any day. In fact, I probably will eventually as I really like that Holiday of yours as well as most of the offerings from both brands.

Thanks Rick for this correction. I missed the QSP part somehow. Nevertheless, like you, I am very impressed with my two Hollidays and don't regret buying either of them. The superb workmanship, style and design is eye catching and the simplicity of function is the best I've ever experienced.

That's actually the perspective that I should have. I'd save more money for retirement if I was a little more disciplined about my knife spending. Heck, I'd probably just sit around and rot if I retired anyway.

I'm planning a road trip to Grand Prairie Knives next week. Too bad they don't carry the Finch brand yet.

I didn't know they're located in Illinois. Just a skosh over an hour down I-55. That's not bad at all. Good luck.

These are beautiful knives, but they are manufactured in China. Scroll down to the end of the specs.

Did Dale do the covers on this or are they original??
Either way they are very attractive.

Koji Hari is one of the most well known Japanese custom knife makers working today. This little gem -3" closed- is composed of highly polished stainless steel for the frame which is deeply fluted. Presentation grade MOP is inserted into both sides of the handle. This is a liner lock. The thumb stud is a small pearl.

As usual I suggest enlarging the photos.

Oh my, David...just WOW! That is a gorgeous looking Beretta Italy folder. And I love the checkered scales. You're fortunate to have seen this before I did, otherwise, "I" would be showing it off instead of you. ::tu:: You have a keeper there.

Garry...that is one beautiful Koji Hara. Very unique and eye catching. ::tu::
