Custom Joel Chamblin Gentleman’s pen knife, or half whittler to me. The pearl on this is exceptional. I have seen a lot, A LOT of pearl handles but none compare to this one. I have never seen the shades and hues of blue that this pearl has in it, my pictures don’t do it justice. It’s simply elegant. The 14kt gold pins and shield are over the top. I wish I knew how he put those rounded headed pins in that pearl with no deformation. The blades are 154-CM stainless steel. The liners and bolsters are 416 stainless steel. Simply an exceptional knife. Thank you Roland for giving me the chance to own this beauty.
Absolutely stunning piece Mark!

Mark, I'm thinking that for you to say that this is the nicest knife in your collection represents the highest praise a knife could receive. It is an exquisite piece; wonderful workmanship. Congratulations.

Thank you Q, Dan and Garry.
I have a lot of knives that I put in the top ten of my collection but this one goes to number one. It’s the kind of knife you just can’t stop admiring. Plus the pearl looks different from different angles, it’s relaxing to watch the color shifts.

Old Schrade Cut Co. bare head spear with good bones. Put it with a nice old Pal Stockman for pics and into the pocket immediately.

Thanks thanks, Michigan Dan, jmh, doglegg, TPK. Appreciate the comments guys, you're always too kind and that one really tickles me. I can't believe there are still such knives out there from that era in such good condition. Real treat to find, and appreciate the responses. Thanks again.

Some new Rough Ryders.
All but the blue assisted opener at the bottm have half stops and excellent snap. It's a little irratating to think I pay 4X the cost of a RR for a Case knife but they cant seen to make a knife with snap as good as RR. :x They used to know how to do but it seems to be an accident these days.

My Cases have great to excellent snap. Maybe I just got lucky?

Those Rough Ryders look pretty good, I must admit. I don't need to be jumping on another bandwagon, but I'd be interested in checking one out if it comes as part of a mixed lot.

Yup, you totally nailed it. In my experience, modern Case knives do not have the same strong snap of most RR knives. Now, that's not to say that all modern Case knives have a weak or soft snap (some do, some don't...depends on the pattern, etc.), but compared to the pre-1980s Case knives, which all have a very strong snap, the modern Case knives are not nearly as crisp in their walk and talk.

But, I would submit that the reason you pay 4x the cost of a Made In China RR for a Made In USA Case knife has less to do with the construction of the knife and more to do with the cost of labor in China compared to the cost of labor in the USA.
