I was outside all day today. Lot's of chores to do and I always like to have some various and sundry options on the belt....
A Spyderco in the front pocket, a Pal scout knife in the 5th pocket, a Ka-bar dagger and Leatherman on the hip and a 'Lill Kershaw in the side pocket (great for cutting up boxes!)

Agreed. My current carriers will rotate out soon, as they're taking a little road trip.

Apparently it is a hardware brand starting in 1898.

I have no idea who made it.
I don't know how I missed this one. Beautiful knife!

Today a Kershaw USA Leek, a Schrade 8OT Old Timer and a Camillus S702 Sailor's Rope Knife with Can Opener. Anyone have an idea as to when the 8OT Old Timer was made?

I am gonna go out on a limb and say that 8OT is one of the earlier ones--'60s or early '70s. I know they switched tang stamps (and dropped that sexy matchstrike pull) when they moved to Ellenville in '73.

I normally do NOT do cheap imports, but I decided to try a Kabar 3189 as a work beater; as another forum I'm on is doing a Buck 110 clone challenge. Decent, but for a cheap user, I'm sticking to my Rough Rider (Ryder) Work Knife. They make it in carbon steel now, so I may try that. The Kabar is based on the old USA 1189; but despite the FRN handles, the Buck 110LT is quite a bit better. The Kabar has uneven G-10 handles, slight wobble on the blade, and a tip-down clip. The 110LT has the proper tip-up clip; and is the same cost. AND made in Idaho, not China.

Thanks! ::handshake:: I was thinking -'60s or early '70s with the older looking tang stamp. I have had good luck beating the hell (literally with a hammer ::doh:: ) out of my Ganzo Firebird made by the Chi-Coms it is a great "Beater".

Especially with metal handles. I have a couple of under $20 beater multitools that have thick steel slabs that don't get more than scratched when you use them as a hammer.

These two made their way into my pockets last night. The color looks so much better in sunlight. Unfortunately, some cloud cover rolled in before the photo was taken...
