This is a picture of one of the restored steam loco's at our Newport Railway Workshops. There is an article in one of our newspapers this morning which is rather concerning for rail enthusiasts such as all of us who contribute to this thread, the above locomotive was restored and preserved by volunteers, who according to the article look like being evicted due to poor government policy. I am going to do more research to see what is happening. I, like all of you hate to see our past history being erased with no thought to future generations knowing about our history, not happy. :x On a brighter note, hope all the mums out there have a great Mothers Day with family. :)

My dad is second from the right. I think the tall, far left guy was the General Car Foreman. We bought registered Black Angus from him, he had a farm at Patterson's Creek. Taken in the 1970's.

That diesel in the background was a Baltimore & Ohio locomotive operated by Chessie and painted in the Chessie paint scheme.

You dad was a cool looking dude, 8) i don't know about over in America, but the 1970's were the last great era of the railways over here in the state where i live, once the 1980's arrived they started the process of the corporate thinking and breaking up the railways and selling off different sections of it. Have a good week. :)

Fine looking locos, JPD! ::tu::

Hard to believe the amount of work and materials that went into making electric engines work.
