Precisely. Just enough blade, and fits my medium hand perfectly. Still trying to get an edge on mine. Apparently, it was a knife that wasn't finished when Camillus closed. It has been ground, but there was no edge, and it was paired with a crappy aftermarket sheath.

Wow QS! I'm thinking I need some scrimshaw in my rotation drawer.

I'm also a fan of Russlocks
This is my first one but after half a day I am wondering why I waited so long to try one. I usually carry a medium stockman (almost always a 6318 Case these days) and some sort of larger lockback. The russlock feels like it will be a regular in the rotation. That whittler looks like a gemPapa Bones wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 4:25 pmthankgod4rkids wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 12:30 pm Taking the new redbones out for the first time.

I really like the Russlock for one handed operation. It takes some people time to get used to it, but once you get used to it and the thumb action it comes naturally. I really kind of prefer the drop point blades. The 953-1/2L pattern. But both are good blades.thankgod4rkids wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 5:07 pm

I've been carrying this Cattaraugus Whittler the last few days.
One heck of an old girl Cody, imagine the stories it could tell...cody6268 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 2:13 am Old Boker from the '50s. I rarely actually carry this one, but the bone, old-style big shield, and threaded bolsters are the bee's knees. Not many knives can be treated like heck (original owner was a good friend of my great-granddad's, then it was sold to my Granddad, my great-granddad's son-in-law upon this friend's passing in the 1980s; then Granddad gave it to me a couple of years back), and still work fine. This isn't a bear trap snap knife like my modern 1990s Beer Barrel Congress, but still snaps good given how poor condition it is, it should have no snap at all.
