Hello All, sorry, we have been off the radar for a while but still always checking in. I think this was a great exercise and think David had a good idea to try it. After looking at the knife I was ready to question it just from David’s open remarks, however after looking at it excessively and deciding on my own, I was about 75% sure it was legitimate…However I did make the mistake of reacting to quickly and forgot about all the parts floating around out there and the fact that it could be a knife made with original parts just not as an original Baldwin produced knife. The part that I was held up on was the Baldwin stamp itself, it does not look new and you can see the age in it but I did not like how the “win” looked in size compared to the rest of the name, that was my hang up (and still is) the second red flag is that the seller is on my list of questionable sellers so even though I was 75% sure I would have passed at any price. But there would have still had the question mark on my mind.

I applaud David for this effort, as others have stated, it is very easy to defer to others opinion and to see what others see without truly examining a piece for yourself group think does happen so always look for yourself, use your judgment, common sense and when in doubt ask those you know to be reasonably knowledgeable or pass and buy something you know to be legitimate. Kudos.
